What does a Talisman do?

A Talisman is an object that is charged with magical energy by way of word and deed for special or specific purposes. The Talisman itself has special abilities stored in it's own energy which are often used in charms and amulets. However in the case of a Talisman, the energy is called upon for a special task.

Your task.

An example of this type of Talisman object that most would know about and one of the most famous would be the "Philosopher's Stone". This Talisman object was said to have been charged so that it could cure any illness and also with the right chanted ritual, could turn any mineral into gold for it's owner. Here, the stone had specific qualities which through ritual were attached to the purpose i.e.., healing or monetary enrichment. Another Talisman less known would be a knotted cord. Here color is the key, having certain energy for certain tasks. The ritual of tying the cord, keeping a special purpose in mind, binds that energy to that purpose for a specific person. I use these Talisman cords myself and find them most helpful in almost all situations.

Stone magic also lends itself perfectly to this type of object. Stones can produce a very strong Talisman, however finding the right stone for your work can be time consuming or if you can't wait, very costly. A diamond engagement ring began as a Talisman. The ring (circle) signifies the female energy and Goddess, the diamond has the powers of Spirituality, Protection, Courage, Peace, Reconciliation, Healing Strength and Sexual Attraction. These qualities explain why men began giving these rings to women in the first place.
